When I was younger, Chávez announced the government would be taking over people’s homes and unused lands.
"The fundamental goal of socialism is to satisfy human needs … the needs of all, equally, without privilege" said Chávez.
Panicked, my family got together to discuss: “what does this mean for us? What options do we have? What can we do to protect our assets?”
These are questions that still plague us today because we understand one deep truth: your assets are never safe.
Your Assets are Never Safe
Safety is an illusion.
Yet rich people believe that as long as they buy assets they are safe. They believe they are immune to the problems that plague the lower and middle-class.
Nothing could be further from the truth…
Because even if you’re a rich person and the government isn’t taking your assets, eventually the have-nots of society will take it away from you. Most often by form of revolution.
I have seen this play out in Venezuela. As the regime consolidated their power and as easy money inundated the economy (with soooo much printing of money that it created hyperinflation), crime and war broke out in Venezuela.
To this day, Venezuelans continue to fight with every last ounce of energy they have in order to reclaim what was stolen from them by the government; mainly sovereignty, the dignity of human rights and wealth.
Venezuela shows us that whenever wealth is extremely concentrated, people will find a way to get it back.
That’s why the rich person who does not care about the problems of society is fooling themselves. They completely miss the point. Every single person in society is interconnected. Therefore no one is safe until we’re ALL safe.
It is absolutely in their best interest to take on the wider issues of society if they wish to protect their wealth.
The truth is, to protect themselves they must first protect others. They must ensure the economic system works all.
Bitcoin Protects Us
There is a reason why people learn about bitcoin and become hardcore aficionados. The obsession stems from their due diligence, research and deep ethics.
When I started learning about Bitcoin, it required me to first learn about our financial system. Then I couldn’t un-see the colossal fuck-up it all was. The more I learned about it, the more of a bitcoiner I became.
Bitcoin is a monetary system that promises to be decentralized, honest and for public consumption.
Bitcoin says “no one can tinker with the monetary supply. In fact, the supply of bitcoin will forever be capped at 21 million bitcoin.”
Why this is important is because it means bitcoin’s monetary supply cannot be rigged to benefit a select few.
Bitcoin protects you from the government having the ability to dilute the current or future issuance of bitcoin… meaning they cannot steal the value of your savings from you.
And they sure as hell can’t go on national television to occupy your Bitcoin.
Plus, the fact that bitcoin is digital means it’s also portable. If our country collapses or a dictator rises, we can leave our country overnight. We can move our wealth across borders by memorizing a 12 word password.
This portability means you are no longer a slave to your circumstances nor bound by unethical politics and unfair behaviours. You are a free agent.
This idea - that you are sovereign over yourself - is terrifying to central bankers and governments who fear losing their grip over their population.
Bitcoin rips that power right out of their hands to make sovereign, empowered and dignified citizens of the world.
Please Learn about Bitcoin
As long as corruption lives in our money and is the foundation from which all other things are built, you can rest assured your assets are never, ever safe.
Neither are your human right to freedom, opportunity and happiness.
I’m asking you to please protect yourself by learning about Bitcoin. You may not agree with what I’m saying, and that’s fine, but at least ask questions.
You can start with these ones: “Why do I feel like I’m getting poorer and poorer with time? Why does inflation keep rising?” These question deserve an answer.
In the end, this is all a game. Like all games, there are winners and losers.
You don’t want to end up stressed the way my family and other families are in Venezuela, Syria and Egypt.
Or… basically 99% of the world. (Hint: North America will not be an exception).
As long as our economic system is rigged, we will forever be losers.
